Study Abroad & Scholarships for Malaysian Students | SIM Global Education

Frequently Asked Questions

Answer

If the student did not pass Malay Language (Bahasa Melayu) and History (Sejarah), the student only receives the SPM Transcript but not the SPM Certificate. The SPM Certificate is required for Malaysians to work in Malaysia.

For such special cases,

  • Can this student still apply to study in Singapore? – Yes.
  • Can this student apply for SIM Management Foundation Studies (MFS)? – Yes.
  • Will this pass through our SIM Admission, using the SPM transcript only to apply for MFS? – Yes, the student just needs to write a declaration letter signed by the student/parents (if less than 18 years old). The declaration letter should contain the following information:
    • Date at which the student took the SPM examination,
    • The subjects taken and results,
    • School name and graduation date
    • Include the SPM Transcript
  • Will this be accepted by ICA? – Yes.
  • Will this be a problem if the student chooses to progress to our Partner Universities’ degree programmes? – No.
  • Subsequently, will there be a problem for the student to get a work permit in Singapore? – No.

"The SIM Diploma in Accounting (DAC) programme is a good programme. The lecturers provided us with study notes with very detailed explanations. On top of that, we were also given tutorials and practice questions. This helped me to understand and perform well in a related UOL programme (Accounting and Finance) that I later took up. Having built a firm foundation in Accounting through DAC, I gained a competitive advantage over other students in the programme."
